LSU senior Jayden Daniels’ record-setting season made him the second LSU player to win the nation’s oldest and most prestigious quarterback trophy, joining Joe Burrow (2019).

During the 2023 season, Daniels was 236-for-327 passing (.722) for3,812 yards with 40 touchdowns and four interceptions. In addition, he rushed 135 times for 1,134yards (8.4 yards per carry) and 10 additional touchdowns. Daniels led the NCAA in total offense (412.2), passing efficiency (208.0), total quarterback rating (95.7), points responsible for per game (25.2), yards per pass attempt (11.7) and yards per rush (8.4). He also ranked among the nation’s best in touchdown passes (2nd, 40), yards per completion (4th, 16.2), passing yards (5th, 3,812) and completion percentage (7th, .722). His 1,134 rushing yards ranked 31st among all players and first among quarterbacks.

Daniels’ 208.0 passer rating broke the all-time NCAA single-season record. In 12 games, he threw for more than 300 yards seven times and rushed for more than 100 on five occasions for the 13th-ranked Tigers. He also won the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and was named the Associated Press Player of the Year.
