Alabama’s Milroe Grabs National QB of the Week Accolade

FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 17, 2024) – The Davey O’Brien Foundation has announced that Alabama junior Jalen Milroe has been voted the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week for week three of the college football season.

On Saturday, Milroe’s five total touchdowns led the Crimson Tide to a dominant 42-10 road win at Wisconsin, the Badgers’ most lopsided home loss since 2008. Through the air, the native of Katy, Texas, completed 12 of 17 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns, all of which came from more than 25 yards out.

Milroe also rushed 14 times for a team-high 75 yards and two scores. He is the first FBS player since 2012 with multiple passing and rushing touchdowns in three consecutive games. For his efforts, he also was named the AP National Player of the Week, Maxwell Award Player of the Week and the Co-SEC Offensive Player of the Week.

The Davey O’Brien Foundation was created in 1977, and the National Quarterback Award, the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, was first issued in 1981. Over its time, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has given away more than $1.3 million in scholarships and university grants to help high school and college athletes transform leadership on the field into leadership in life.

In 1938, O’Brien, who was a star quarterback for TCU, became the first player ever to win the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award in the same year. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1955. For more information, visit www.DaveyOBrienAward.com.
