Colorado’s Sanders Named Davey O’Brien National QB of the Week
FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 12, 2024) – Colorado senior Shedeur Sanders has been tabbed the Week 11 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week. It is the second career national honor for Sanders, who previously was recognized in Week 1 of the 2023 season.
In a 41-27 road victory at Texas Tech on Saturday, Sanders completed 30 of 43 passes (70.0) for 291 yards and three touchdowns against no interceptions. He also ran for 16 yards and a score as the Buffaloes came back from a 13-0 first-quarter deficit by racking up 31 points in a 22-minute span in the second and third quarters.
For his efforts, Sanders also was named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week. He has been a member of the weekly Davey O’Brien Great 8 four times this season.
The Davey O’Brien Foundation was created in 1977, and the National Quarterback Award, the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, was first issued in 1981. Over its time, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has given away more than $1.3 million in scholarships and university grants to help high school and college athletes transform leadership on the field into leadership in life.
In 1938, O’Brien, who was a star quarterback for TCU, became the first player ever to win the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award in the same year. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1955. For more information, visit www.DaveyOBrienAward.com.
