Florida State’s Travis Snares National Quarterback of the Week Accolade
FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 24, 2023) – Florida State senior Jordan Travis has been named the Week 8 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week for his performance in the fourth-ranked Seminoles’ 38-20 win over No. 16 Duke.
Through the air, Travis was 27-for-36 passing (75.0 percent) for 268 yards and two scores. On the ground, he carried the ball 10 times for a team-high and season-best 62 yards and the go-ahead fourth-quarter touchdown. He also became Florida State’s all-time leader in total offense (9,548 yards) during the game, surpassing 2000 Davey O’Brien Award winner Chris Weinke.
Travis has accounted for multiple touchdowns in 14 straight games, the longest active streak in the country and tied for the longest in FSU history. He is one of just six quarterbacks in the nation to be named to the Davey O’Brien Great 8 list three times this season.
The Davey O’Brien Foundation was created in 1977, and the National Quarterback Award, the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, was first issued in 1981. Over its time, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has given away more than $1.3 million in scholarships and university grants to help high school and college athletes transform leadership on the field into leadership in life.
In 1938, O’Brien, who was a star quarterback for TCU, became the first player ever to win the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award in the same year. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1955. For more information, visit www.DaveyOBrienAward.com.
