Ole Miss’ Dart Named National Quarterback of the Week
FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 3, 2023) — Ole Miss junior Jaxson Dart has been selected as the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week for the fifth week of the college football season.
On Saturday, Dart led the Rebels to a thrilling 55-49 victory over No. 13 LSU by accumulating 439 yards of total offense and five touchdowns. The Kaysville, Utah, product completed 26 of 39 passes (.667) for 389 yards and four touchdowns and added 50 rushing yards and a score on seven carries.
Dart rallied Ole Miss from a nine-point fourth quarter deficit. Trailing 49-40 with just over five minutes left, Dart’s rushing touchdown pulled Ole Miss within two. He then threw the game-winning 13-yard touchdown with 39 seconds remaining. The 55 points were the Rebels’ most ever against an AP top-25 team.
Dart, the SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, ranks fourth nationally in total offense per game (350.8), 10th in passing yards (1,485) and 12th in points responsible for (90) for the 4-1 Rebels.
The Davey O’Brien Foundation was created in 1977, and the National Quarterback Award, the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, was first issued in 1981.
